Welcome to Southern Accord Chorus
If you hang out in the halls of a Southern Accord rehearsal you will wonder why you have goosebumps. You are experiencing the rich sound of over 30 voices singing in nearly perfect a cappella harmony.
Southern Accord Chorus is a vibrant community of over 30 singers from all backgrounds and with all levels of musical experience who love to sing. From students to scientists, business owners to homemakers, we are a community of strong, caring members who believe in the community we create together. We are a safe, accepting, and positive environment where members have the freedom to be themselves, be ambitious, show their strengths, and develop new ones without fear of judgment. By working together every week with the common goal of musical and performance excellence, we build strong bonds that continue beyond the rehearsal.
Our members not only contribute to the chorus vocally and visually, but many perform in smaller ensembles, work on our board of directors and music teams, perform odd jobs on committees, or provide a friendly shoulder to a fellow risermate when needed. This is a place where everyone matters.
With the support of Sweet Adelines International, we build our music and performance skills.
"WE SING BECAUSE WE ARE HAPPY... AND WE ARE HAPPY BECAUSE WE SING"
OUR DIRECTORS AND THEIR TEAM
Southern Accord Chorus is very fortunate to have a talented musical team leading us! They "Harmonize" our world. Our Director Jill McLeod, and Associate Director Elaine Liebelt, come to us with excellent musical backgrounds and have developed their barbershop and leadership skills through the Director Certification Program of Sweet Adelines International. Betty Baldwin, Director Emeritus recently retired to the risers and continues to provide mentorship and sage advice to the chorus. Wanda Dubois brings her music background in teaching to her role as Assistant Director.bOur music team and section leaders help choose music, provide feedback and support vocal unity development within the sections. Our choreography team designs and teaches members performance skills and choreography to enhance our music and our Costume lead helps us put together a unified visual presentation.
